1st Workshop on Digital technologies and teaching innovations in COVID-19 times (DTTIC 2021)

Scope:

After the World Health Organization declared a pandemic of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on March 11th 2020 many governments have declared the state of alarm enforcing a quarantine that have left millions of students confined to their homes. This home confinement has affected students of all levels, including university students, and has forced faculties to adapt teaching strategies. Thus, in many cases, traditional classroom face-to-face teaching has suddenly been replaced by online classes, and the teaching process has revealed particularly challenging for practice learning and the development of professional skills. In response to this situation, many teachers have adapted their teaching through the use of digital technologies, including a number of communication tools and platforms, multimedia and electronic resources, virtual classrooms and laboratories, augmented and virtual reality applications, videogames… In the present workshop we pretend that teaching staff share their experiences during the past COVID-19 quarantine presenting those innovations adopted in their courses and how technology can be used to achieve those professional skills which usually are developed through face-to-face teaching and workplace-based practice. This will be an excellent opportunity to discuss how different technologies and strategies have been implemented to overcome learning difficulties derived from social distancing scenarios.
