1st Computational Methods and Applications for Image Processing and Analysis


The evolution of computational devices capable to capture scenes and represent them in images is improving the relevance of the image processing and analysis applications. Images from digital cameras, remote sensing, biomedical imaging, security cameras, and images from videos are examples of these applications. To adjust all these type of images to human or future computational interpretation, several efforts have been made to develop efficient and robust computational methods for image processing and analysis. Usually, these methods are based on geometrical, statistical or physical approaches and aim to achieve enhanced visualizations and/or facilitate high-level analysis of complex image data. Moreover, important computational areas, as Artificial Intelligence, can work together with Image Processing area to improve the quality of results for complex image data. Thus, image processing and analysis can be applied in various areas, such as industry, engineering, medicine, biology, biomechanics, sports and geoinformatics, with different goals, like image restoring, image enhancement, image segmentation, image recognition and classification, image description, shape reconstruction, motion analysis, simulation and animation.

The main goal of this Workshop is to bring together specialists from various fields related to Image Processing, Information Technology, Computational Vision, Computational Methods, Mathematics, Informatics, Statistics, Medical Imaging, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, among others. The proposed Workshop will provide a forum for presentation and discussion of issues related to Computational Methods and Applications for Image Processing and Image Analysis with the purpose of identifying the major lines of development for the near future, such as providing a space where researchers and developers may present about their applications related with the image processing fields. Moreover, another challenge of the Workshop is to establish a connection between researchers and end-users from related fields.
